An absolute legend of Cornish and military rugby. Known as a highly mobile, incredibly clinical, “free-scoring hooker”, Prids has a knack for finding the try line that rival backs would envy.
He has put together a phenomenal career across club, county and service rugby.
Priddey’s club career is deeply rooted in the county, primarily split between local rivals Redruth and Camborne. He has enjoyed multiple stints at Camborne, recently making his 150th appearance for the club.
In February, he hit a staggering milestone, scoring his 200th career try for Camborne during a hat-trick performance against Syston.
Priddey finished the 2024 – 25 National League 2 West season as Camborne’s top scorer, racking up a mind-blowing 45 tries from the hooker position. This being a club record held by Alex Ducker. This season saw Ben scoop the award with a still impressive 38 tries.
Beyond playing, his leadership at the club runs deep, having stints as captain and using his knowledge as a Navy PTI to keep the squad in full fitness.
Priddey joined the Royal Navy in 2006 as an Aircraft Handler before transitioning to the Physical Training (PT) branch in 2016, passing out top of his class. His military playing record is no less incredible than his club exploits.
One of the most capped Royal Navy Senior Men’s players of all time, reaching 34 caps and is the only player in history to score a hat-trick of tries against the Army at Twickenham in 2014. He captained the Senior XV for multiple campaigns (lifting the Inter-Services trophy as skipper in 2016). Moving into coaching, he recently served as the forwards coach for the Royal Navy U23s, leading them to a title, and was appointed Head Coach of the Senior Royal Navy Men’s team for the 2026 Inter-Services Rugby Union Championship.
He has represented the unified UK Armed Forces side on 8 occasions, including playing in the International Defence Rugby Cup in Japan during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Ben has also been an integral part of the Cornwall County team. A proud Cornishman, he wore the black and gold shirt for years, helping lead Cornwall to County Championship glory, lifting the trophy at Twickenham in 2022 and this June.
Retaining Ben for the upcoming National 1 campaign is massive. Even as a veteran who balances playing with S&C coaching and military head-coaching duties, his absurd try-scoring record shows he remains one of the most dangerous front-row forwards in the league.
“I will be signing on for another season with Camborne and can’t wait!
What a couple years Camborne have had and I can’t wait for the next challenge of stepping up into National 1.
Camborne is such a fantastic club, with great players, staff and support and I wouldn’t want to be at any other Club”
