As the senior squads gear up for pre-season and prepare to head into new leagues, there is a significant change to report within our coaching setup.

After four unforgettable seasons, our Forwards Coach, Chris Fuca, has made the decision to vacate his position.

It is a decision Chris didn’t take lightly, but one made with the best interests of the players and the club at heart.

“I feel as a group, you are in the most fantastic spot and really do have the best to come,” Chris shared in a message to the squad. “I gave it everything I have… I can’t demand what I can’t give. The time for a new voice and opinion is what I think will drive us forward as a club.”

Chris’s four years at The Rec have coincided with one of the most successful periods in recent memory for Camborne RFC. Working alongside the rest of the coaching staff, Chris has been an instrumental part of a remarkable run that include 4 seasons of dedicated leadership, 55 caps and 4 promotions achieved across the Men’s Senior Squad (and a few yellow cards).

Reflecting on his time, Chris said how much the environment and the people have meant to him and his family.

“It has been an absolute privilege and honour to work with you all… I have been welcomed in and accepted. You have had patience and willingness to trust me. The last four years have truly been the best of my career. My family love the place and are as happy as they’ve ever been.”

He extended a massive thank you to the staff for their support and trust through what he described as “an incredible journey,” but saved his highest praise for the squad itself. “Players, you have been the joy of it all. You have given me your time and trust. You’ve actually bought into some of my madness. It has been a lot of work but a lot of fun, thank you.”

While Chris is stepping away from the intense demands of the coaching role, fans will be relieved to know he isn’t going too far. He will remain available to the club on an ad-hoc basis to help out with training sessions when required. More importantly, he’s not hanging up his boots just yet. Chris plans to pull on the jersey and play as much as “this old rig” will let him, whether that’s turning out for the 2nd XV or the Vets.

True to form, Chris left the incoming players with some classic words of advice as they look toward the future, “Welcome to the best environment there is. Pay your fines on time, enjoy the chaos and enjoy the journey the club is on. Make time for the fans, volunteers and most importantly each other… Make a memory out of every opportunity. The club will back you to be successful. The club needs you to thrive.”

On behalf of everyone at Camborne RFC, the players, coaches, managers, volunteers and fans, we want to say a massive thank you to Chris for his dedication, his “madness,” and the success he brought to the Recreation Ground.

Chris will be around at sessions and socials before the season kicks off to catch up with everyone properly. Be sure to buy him a pint and say thanks when you see him!

Thank you, Fucs.

Huge news for Camborne.

Jack Andrew is a true stalwart of Cornish rugby. Over the last decade and a half, the physical prop has established himself as one of the most reliable and respected front-row operators around.

His transition away from full-time professional rugby to sign with Camborne RFC in 2024 was a massive coup for the Cherry and Whites.Since then he’s brought invaluable leadership and top-tier set-piece dominance to the club.

A graduate of the respected Truro College squad, Jack captained the side to a historic National Schools Cup victory at Twickenham in 2009. In 2010, he joined the Exeter Chiefs Academy to begin his professional development, while also gaining senior experience on loan with Launceston RFC.

He spent a full season playing for Plymouth Albion, cementing his physical presence and refining his trade at loosehead and tighthead prop.

Jack returned home to Cornwall and became a legendary figure at the Mennaye Field. Over an 11 year spell with the Cornish Pirates, he racked up 236 appearances, second only to head coach, Alan Paver. He celebrated his testimonial year in 2023, leaving a mark as a mentor to younger players and a Championship powerhouse.

Stepping away from full-time rugby, Jack signed with Camborne RFC for the club’s second season in National League Two West. His impact was immediate. During the 2025 – 26 campaign, he crossed his 50-appearance milestone for Camborne. His dominant performances earned him a spot in The Rugby Paper’s Team of the Season.

Beyond his club campaign with Camborne, Jack has continued to represent the Cornwall County team with pride. In May he was drafted into the starting lineup for the county side, culminating in a spectacular performance at Twickenham where Cornwall defeated Lancashire to reclaim the Cup.

Jack brings elite scrummaging, high tactical IQ, devastating running lines and immense leadership. Being able to switch from tighthead to loosehead and second row, his versatility and phenomenal fitness easily see him completing a full 80 minutes.

With Town moving up a league for the upcoming season, locking Jack down to an extension is a massive statement of intent as they look to establish themselves at the higher level.
