Camborne RFC are excited to announce the signing of Fraser Honey, who joins us from Champ side, London Scottish for the coming season.
Fraser started his career in Cornwall, beginning with Launceston before he joined the Cornish Pirates development pathway in 2016.
The fly-half moved on to spells with Bury St Edmunds and National League 1’s Plymouth Albion.
A reliable tactical kicker, Fraser enjoyed a four-year stay at Redruth before he moved to Rams RFC in 2023, where he regularly captained the side and finished among the top point-scorers in National League 1.
Fraser was part of the Cornwall side that won the Bill Beaumont Cup in both 2019 & 2022 and was County captain for the 2023 campaign.
Most recently, Fraser stepped up to The Champ with London Scottish. Balancing the higher tier of rugby with a long commute from Cornwall, his time in the Championship proved his ability against full-time professional squads before his decision to return home to Camborne where he will be able to do what he loves, playing in front of his friends and family.
Of his latest new signing Director of Sport Ricky Pellow said ‘I’m delighted to bring a player of Fraser’s calibre and experience to Camborne. I know it’s been a bit of a dream of his to be able to play in front of his son more. For us as a Club to be able to be part of that is super exciting.’
On his return to Cornwall Honey said ‘it’s going to be extremely special for me, obviously being back playing in front of my friends and family, especially my little boy, Hugo. It’s just going to mean everything. So, I cannot wait for that. And of course, obviously, to play in front of a packed Cornish crowd again, it’s going to be brilliant. I can’t wait. I’ve missed it a lot.”
‘I’m pleased to welcome Fraser to Camborne and look forward to seeing him in the Cherry & Whites back line alongside the recently announced Joel Matavesi. We are building a competitive National 1 squad for what will be an exciting and challenging season’ added Martin Symons, Camborne’s chairman.
