Lanson 22 – 24 Camborne.

A rocky start for Lanson saw them pushing back repeated attacks and holding up a try from konrad Grenfell.

A try for the hosts against the flow of play after 15 minutes looked to shake Town and they quickly found themselves 14 – 0 to the bad.

With 5 minutes to go in the first half, Camborne came alive releasing Ben Green for a well worked try, this was followed rapidly by a classic Town forward rumble in the 5m that resulted in scrum half, David Taylor, sniping Town’s second of the half.

14 – 12.

From the start of the second period, Town were firing and, despite the challenging ground conditions on Lanson’s Devon pitch, rapid winger Sonny Lee-Hirst broke down the wing from around the 10m line for a beautiful individual effort. 14 – 17.

Lanson struck back with 2 penalties, only one of which a success leaving the score at 17 – 17 with midfield play and handling errors burning the clock. A further forward try judged to be held up gave the hosts some breathing room until, once again, Ben Green broke from a line out in the Lanson 22, with the ball brilliantly shipped coast to coast for a converted bonus point try. 17 – 24.

In the dying moments of the game, Lanson broke through and after some debate about whether the ball was fairly grounded, the try was awarded, a tricky conversion being the difference.

Heartbreak for the hosts, the conversion kick was short and wide.

Final score 22 – 24

That brings the Colts another 5 points and 7 from 7. Having only dropped one league point this season, a very respectable 34 keeping them top of the table.
