Pellow link up is a real New Year boost for Cherry & Whites

Camborne are set to benefit from the services of Ricky Pellow as part time Sporting Director to assist with their strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of all rugby-related matters.

The ambitious Cherry & Whites currently top National Two West by seven points after defeating local rivals Redruth in the final fixture before the Christmas break.

Having recently left Exeter Chiefs after being an integral part of the coaching staff since 2009 Pellow has taken up a role as Sports Director for new company FLX Sports and Events where he will play a key part in the global growth of the business.

FLX is owned by Tony Chapman, CEO & Founder of CLX who are Camborne’s main sponsors and who will be providing Ricky’s time and input as part of the ongoing support for the Club.

CLX is a dynamic international consultancy working with businesses across the private and public sector on improved customer experiences and front-end transformations.

The FLX company ambition is to make it easy for fans to enjoy the match day experience with the goal to help stadiums, events, sporting teams and clubs build the right operating model, systems, solutions and processes to support & sustain growth and success.

Speaking of Ricky’s appointment Tony Chapman enthused that ‘this is part of a package of support for Camborne RFC that will allow the Club to grow to play at the highest level it can whilst at the same time being a sustainable business and community club.’

The role will allow the Cherry & Whites to begin consideration of a 5 year strategy promoting a ‘one club’ culture across all age grades including an effective player pathway and to consider links & share best practice with other stakeholders including the recently announced Cornwall College Academy, RFU academy structure, the Cornwall RFU and South West professional clubs.

‘We are hugely grateful to Tony Chapman for facilitating Ricky’s appointment as Sporting Director which will be key to our Club remaining on its upward trajectory’ stated Martin Symons, Camborne’s Chairman. ‘In the short term he will use his high level knowledge and expertise to guide and support our existing team of coaches, team managers, and officials’ he added.

Pellow is already liaising closely with Head Coach, Tom Kessell and other coaching staff and is set to attend training and matches providing feedback & direction.
