Happy 97th birthday to England’s oldest surviving international player and Cherry & Whites legend John Collins.

John won 3 caps for his country as full back way back in 1952 before his career was cut short by injury and he remains Camborne’s sole England international player to date.

Ahead of Camborne’s National Two West derby victory over Redruth in September John was fittingly on hand to cut the ribbon at the door of the new home changing room at the Recreation Ground.

The Recreation Ground now has modern compliant changing rooms for both players and officials in addition to new facilities for medics and support staff.

The extension of the changing & ancillary facilities has been completed as part of a wider project funded from the UK Government’s Town Deal programme enabling major improvements for the benefit of the whole of the Camborne community.
