Camborne Women 83 – 0 Plymouth Argaum

Women’s Rugby kicked off their home season in spectacular fashion this weekend, welcoming their biggest-ever crowd to the Rec. The atmosphere was electric as they faced league newcomers Plymouth Argaum in what promised to be a thrilling encounter.

Led out of the tunnel by captain Tanya Glasson, the team radiated energy and determination following a strong win the previous weekend. They wasted no time making their mark—Tanya crossed the line for the first try just minutes after kickoff, thanks to slick moves from the backs that set the tone for the match. The forwards also dominated throughout the first half, and despite a resilient defensive effort from Plymouth Argaum, Camborne’s backs ran in five more tries and a conversion, taking a commanding 32–0 lead into halftime.

The second half saw several substitutions and positional changes, but Camborne’s extended pre-season training clearly paid off. Their fitness and pace shone through as they added another nine tries and three conversions. The team delivered some spectacular tries, including debut tries for several players. The communication and synergy between the forwards and backs has been exceptional this season, and it’s exciting to see what lies ahead.

A huge shoutout to Plymouth Argaum, who battled to the final whistle and never let their heads drop. Their tackling was fierce, with special recognition for their full-back, who repeatedly stood up to Camborne’s heavy hitters. We wish them all the best for the season and look forward to the away fixture next year.

Player Highlights: A Few Special Mentions from our Captain

What a game! A hard-working team performance full of grit, determination, and brilliant communication. The way this group is gelling—both on and off the pitch—is something special. What a brilliant bunch of women and what a great team to be a part of!

Forward of the Match – Charity

A debut in the Camborne shirt and straight into the front row—Charity took to the prop position like she’d been there for years. Her scrummaging was solid, her carries were aggressive, and she carved out space for several tries with some powerful drives. A confident and impressive start!

Back of the Match – Sarah

No stranger to the game, but after a bit of time away, we’re lucky she’s chosen Camborne for her return. Slotting in at 10, Sarah brought control, creativity, and some seriously slick backline moves. Hard lines, classy offloads, and a whole lot of flair.

Tit of the Team – Sophia

Plenty of contenders this week, including a cheeky try attempt on the 5m line – but Bish took the title. Despite scoring another hat-trick, she managed to let the ball slip from her hands over the try line. A moment we won’t let her forget anytime soon!

Debuts

A massive shoutout to our debutants this week—you absolutely smashed it. From fearless tackles to smart support play and powerful carries, you slotted in like seasoned pros. We’re proud to have you in the Camborne shirt. Welcome to the family!
